Burleson Police Chief Billy Cordell said the threatening remarks were allegedly made by a former student during a social media exchange with a current student.
“In an abundance of caution, we have placed both high schools in a Lockdown mode,” the school district said in a message posted on its Facebook page Monday morning. “We received news this morning that a student sent out a message on Facebook that indicated a threat towards a student at one of our campuses. This means that all doors have been closed and students are remaining in their current classrooms.”
Additional officers were stationed on and around the campuses.

“Please know that students are safe here at school, security is tight, and we will continue to keep you up to date,” the message states. “Police have requested that parents refrain from coming to the campus in order to allow them to best maintain a secure environment.”
The lockdown was lifted shortly after 3 p.m.
