The application process for the Fort Worth district’s schools and programs of choice are underway, including information for students who are interested in enrolling at the I.M. Terrell Academy for STEM & VPA, which opens next fall.
The district’s Gold Seal Programs of Choice are specialized areas of study or campuses similar to magnet programs. They are offered at elementary, middle and high schools.
The application process kicks off with an expo Friday and Saturday at the Wilkerson-Greines Activity Center. There will be open houses held at elementary and middle schools on Nov. 7. High schools will hold open houses Nov. 7 through Nov. 10.
Students can apply online beginning Friday and the applications are due by Dec. 1.
Programs of Choice include advanced academics, engineering, aviation technology, culinary arts, health science, audio/video production. The district’s Schools of Choice include two single-gender campuses, the I.M. Terrell STEM/Visual and Performing Arts academy and World Languages Institute.
The district has released a series of videos that offer a snapshot of specialized programs offered.
“Are you looking for a middle school experience as individual as you are? Then, keep watching,” said Superintendent Kent Scribner in one of the videos.
Students who want to participate in a program or school of choice need to apply — even if the program is offered at one’s home campus. Students can apply online or by using a paper application that needs to be mailed or delivered to the district office.
Admission is based on a computer-generated lottery.
