The next time you see a member of North Side High School’s Mariachi Espuelas de Plata, congratulate them.
The Fort Worth group won the top honor Saturday at the Jose Hernandez Mariachi Nationals in Los Angeles, according to a Facebook post by the school.
The victory keeps the national championship in North Texas. Last year, Mariachi Sol Azteca from Grand Prairie received the top prize.
With the recognition, the Mariachi Espuelas De Plata have added a national award to a distinguished résumé.
In 2014, Mariachi Espuelas de Plata performed at Carnegie Hall in New York City.
The group also won first place in the high school division in the Mariachi Spectacular de Albuquerque 2013.
