A man was killed Monday night after he was dragged for a mile when he tried to stop a carjacking, police said.
The name of the victim had not been released as of Tuesday morning.
The carjacking occurred shortly before 9 p.m. Monday in the 10300 block of Wildwood Drive. A suspect drove off with the victim’s 1992 Pontiac, but the victim tried to stop him by jumping on the vehicle or in a window, police said.
The suspect continued driving as the victim was dragged along the ground near the Dallas and Irving city limits.

At some point, the suspect wrecked the car and fled.
Irving firefighters responded, found the victim and took him to Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas, where he died.
The suspect faces a murder charge in the case, police said Tuesday.
