A Fort Worth man who thought he was meeting a 13-year-old girl at a motel for sex in December — but found an undercover Fort Worth officer instead — has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison.
Brian D. Prim, 48, had responded to a Craigslist advertisement entitled, “Need some young company, I’m here?” An officer with the Fort Worth Police Department’s crimes against children unit was working undercover at the Fort Worth motel and had posted the ad.
Prim was one of four men arrested in December in the same way.
He pleaded guilty to a federal charge of enticement of a minor in May and was sentenced Tuesday.
Fort Worth police, assisted by the FBI, conducted the two-day online sting operation in December, a time when many children could be online unsupervised.
Detectives posted ads on websites like Craigslist and Backpage indicating they were lonely and looking for fun. When contacted, the detectives would quickly bring their purported young age into the conversation.
Some people immediately bowed out upon learning the age or flagged the post as inappropriate, but others continued the exchange, Fort Worth police told the Star-Telegram in December.
Some 35 to 40 people actively chatted with undercover detectives during the two-day operation.
Along with Prim, the other men arrested were Jeromie Renfro, 27 of Haltom City; Adnan Shahzad, 30, of Irving; and Trevor Bullock, 22, of Fort Worth.
Renfro believed he was to meet with a 15-year-old girl; the other men believed they were meeting a 13-year-old girl, Fort Worth police said.
In Prim’s case, he responded to the Craigslist ad and asked for a picture, according to federal court documents. The officer sent a photo and Prim provided a phone number so “she” could text him.
In several text messages between the two, Prim described the sexual acts he intended to perform with the 13-year-old girl.
“She” told him that she lived in a Fort Worth motel, and Prim requested that she stay on the phone as he drove to the motel and pulled up in the driveway. The “girl” had told him that she was alone in the motel. Prim stated he was wearing a hoodie, gym pants and a TCU ball cap.
Once he arrived, the “girl” gave Prim her room number and he was arrested when he knocked on the door.
Federal enticement of a minor charges are pending against Bullock and Renfro.
Renfro, who wore a Six Flags shirt in his booking photo, said he was at his job at Six Flags Over Texas during his conversations with the undercover detective, police said. He sent the “girl” a picture of the amusement park’s Holiday in the Park celebration along with sexually explicit photos.
In federal court documents, Bullock told the “girl” he contacted that he was nervous because he had never had sex with someone that young before. The “girl” had told him that she was 13.
At the time of his arrest, Bullock was holding a shopping bag with condoms and lubricant, a federal agent said in court records.
MedStar officials confirmed that Bullock worked as an emergency medical technician for about a year but indicated that he was fired in July 2015 for reasons that could not be disclosed.
A federal jury found Shahzad guilty in June on the federal charge of enticement of a minor and he’s scheduled to be sentenced on Oct. 3.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials have been alerted to the arrest of Shahzad, who is in the country on a work visa from Pakistan, Walls said.
