The city will conduct ground spraying to kill mosquitoes tonight and Tuesday night in a south Arlington neighborhood.
The city detected its first positive West Nile Virus mosquito pool in a trap near Youpon and Bristolcone drives, near Bob McFarland Park. The ground spraying, recommended by the city’s Health Authority, Tarrant County Public Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, will be focused on the area roughly between East Bardin Road and SE Green Oaks Boulevard and Matlock Road and the Arlington Municipal Airport.
Contractors will use an ultra-low volume application of Permanone RTU, an oil-based Permethrin, to kill the mosquitoes, the city said. Spraying will be conducted from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. each night, weather permitting.
