Bob Costas, James Carville to speak at UT Arlington

Tickets will go on sale Tuesday to see sportscaster Bob Costas of NBC Sports at the University of Texas at Arlington. Costas is the first in the university’s 2014-15 Maverick Speakers Series.

Costas will speak on “Sports in America: Is It Still Only a Game?” at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 25.

Other speakers include:

• James Carville and Mary Matalin, two opposites in political punditry who wrote All’s Fair: Love, War and Running for President. The two will speak on Oct. 20.

• James Stavridis, dean of the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University, will talk about “Sailing the Cyber Sea: The New Realities of 21stCentury Security” on Nov. 4.

• Michio Kaku, the “curiosity expert” at the Science Channel, will talk about “Physics and the Future” on Feb. 19.
•  Henry Cisneros, who was mayor of San Antonio in the 1980s and worked under President Bill Clinton, will talk on March 26 about “Smart Growth: Developing the Economy, Infrastructure, and a Sustainable Future.”
