Two deaths caused by unrelated wrecks in Arlington

Two men died Tuesday after being involved in unrelated crashes in Arlington, police said on Wednesday.

An Arlington man died Tuesday of injuries he suffered Monday when the bicycle he was riding collided with a car in southwest Arlington, police said.

Conrad Michael Kay, 76, was riding southbound around noon Monday in the 4700 block of South Bowen Road, police spokeswoman Tiara Ellis Richard said.

“He was in the left lane, and as he changed lanes [he] was struck from behind by the driver of a 1999 Nissan Maxima,” Richard said in a news release.

Kay was flown to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, Richard said.

“He died from his injuries Tuesday afternoon,” she said. “The driver of the vehicle stopped and is cooperating with the investigation.”

Also Tuesday, another man died in an unrelated wreck in Arlington, Richard said.

Edward Dawson, 88, of Waxahachie was identified by the Tarrant County medical examiner’s office.

The wreck was reported at about 1:40 p.m., when the pickup Dawson was driving crashed on northbound Texas 360 near Park Row, Richard said. Dawson was taken to Medical Center of Arlington but later died, she said.

“The crash remains under investigation,” Richard said Wednesday. “The driver was not wearing a seat belt and there is the possibility of a medical cause for the crash.”
