Authorities have released the name of the man who was killed Monday afternoon while attempting to cross Interstate 20 with a bicycle in southwest Arlington.

Rosendo Mendez, 57, was identified Tuesday by the Tarrant County medical examiner’s office.

Linda Anderson, a spokeswoman for the medical examiner’s office, said Mendez’s home address was not available.

Mendez was struck by a pickup about 3 p.m. in westbound lanes of the interstate just west of Bowman Springs Road, police said.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Earlier reports indicated that Mendez was riding a bicycle. Anderson said that medical examiner’s investigators learned Mendez was on foot and pushing a bicycle across the interstate when he was struck.

The driver of the vehicle stopped and cooperated with investigators, police said Monday.
