A man who died Sunday after being hit by a car on Highway 287 in Arlington was identified today by the Tarrant County medical examiner’s office as Alfonso Barrientos-Perez, 24. His place of residence was not immediately disclosed.
Sunday’s sleet-coated roadways probably contributed to the accident, Arlington police said.
Barrientos-Perez was standing near a disabled pickup about 12:45 p.m., on the side of the highway’s northbound lanes near the Interstate 20 exit. Police said a vehicle came off an icy bridge that leads to that stretch of roadway, the driver lost control and hit Barrientos-Perez and the truck.
The driver was taken to Medical Center of Arlington with injuries that were not life-threatening, police said.
