A 16-year-old Arlington girl died in a collision Sunday afternoon in Grand Prairie.

Caitlyn Carlile, a sophomore at Arlington Sam Houston High School, was in the back seat of a Ford Taurus that collided with a Chevy Tahoe at the southbound frontage road on Texas 161 and Southwest 14th Street.

Grand Prairie police said the initial investigation shows that the Taurus failed to stop at a stop sign. Carlile was taken by ambulance to Medical Center of Arlington, where she died.

The driver of the Taurus and the front-seat passenger were taken to the hospital with injuries that are not life-threatening. The driver of the Tahoe was not injured.

Police said the accident is still under investigation. This is the 19th traffic fatality in Grand Prairie this year.
