Police are seeking the public’s help in identifying a man who abducted and sexually assaulted a woman in July 2014 and fled after the victim apparently shot him with his own gun.
The attack occurred about 1:35 a.m. on July 26, 2014. The woman was in her parked car at a sports bar in the 2200 block of East Abram Street when the attacker, brandishing a gun, got inside her car, Arlington police said.
The man forced her to drive to an industrial area in north Arlington, where he sexually assaulted her.
During the assault, the woman grabbed the man’s gun and fired it. She believed — and evidence at the scene indicated — that the suspect was wounded before fleeing on foot, police said.
Police are circulating a bulletin in the area of the attack in the hope of generating new leads.
“Investigators believe that the suspect may have some ties to this area and that someone in the community may know him,” police said in a news release Friday.
The suspect is described as Hispanic, 39 to 45 years old, with a possible tattoo on his torso. He spoke Spanish but is also believed to speak English. Investigators think he may have been shot in the arm or upper torso.
Anyone with information about the man is asked to contact Detective Bill Landolt at 817-459-5577 or Crime Stoppers at 817-469-TIPS (8477) or 469TIPS.com.
Crime Stoppers tipsters may remain anonymous and can receive a reward if the information leads to an arrest.
