Several people were hospitalized when the stolen car they were in crashed trying to evade police, according to the Arlington Police Department.
Police officers saw a car that was reported stolen about 1 a.m. Sunday at East Arkansas Lane and South Collins Street and tried to pull it over, according to Arlington police spokesman Steven Bartolotta. The driver fled from the officers until the vehicle crashed at East Arkansas Lane and New York Avenue.
Responding police officers pulled the five occupants from the car as it was catching fire, Bartolotta said. They were taken to the hospital, and three remained hospitalized late Monday. Their conditions were not immediately available.
The driver of the vehicle faces charges of intoxication assault with a vehicle causing serious bodily injury, evading arrest, unauthorized use of a vehicle and marijuana possession.
