With three games left on the schedule entering this week, the Bowie and Martin boys basketball teams were tied for the district lead at 10-1 in 3-5A.
Depending on how each team does in its last game of the season against Lamar, which entered the week tied with Fort Worth Paschal for third place, the teams could be headed for a dramatic season finale when they face each other next Tuesday at Bowie.
Before then, Bowie was scheduled to face Sam Houston on Tuesday and host Lamar at 7:30 p.m. Friday, while Martin was to face Lamar on Tuesday before hosting Sam Houston at 7:30 p.m. Friday.• Seguin is hanging onto third place with three games to go entering this week. The Cougars have Mansfield Legacy, Mansfield Lake Ridge and Red Oak left on the schedule.
The Bowie girls basketball team entered its season finale, scheduled for Tuesday after the press deadline, against Sam Houston still perfect in 3-5A. The Lady Vols have a great shot at perfection in facing the Lady Texans, who have just one district win.
Martin and Lamar look to enter the playoffs as the second and third seeds behind Bowie.• The Seguin Lady Cougars also look to head into the postseason seeded first as the District 15-4A champions. They were set to face a struggling Mansfield Legacy squad in their Tuesday finale.
