Girls basketball

Bowie and Lamar had a great nondistrict seasons and enter this week 2-0 in district.

• Bowie faced Arlington on Dec. 10 to begin district, downing the Lady Colts 72-24.

Nia Roberts led Bowie in scoring with 23 points, and Jazmine Holman tacked on 11.

Bailey Trevino led Arlington (0-1 in district) with seven points.

The Lady Vols defeated Martin (1-1 in district) Friday 66-46. This time it was Nicole Iloanya to lead the scoring with 16, while Emerald Mayfield had 14.

Bowie was scheduled to face Weatherford on Tuesday and will take on Fort Worth Paschal on the road at 6 p.m. Friday.

• Lamar defeated Weatherford 53-39 on Dec. 10 and Paschal 61-32 on Friday.

Dezirae Hampton had 27 points in district competition entering this week, while teammate Symone Willis had 19.

Lamar was scheduled to take on North Crowley on Tuesday and hosts Arlington at 6 p.m. Friday.

• Sam Houston enters the week 0-2 in district. The Lady Texans had Paschal on Tuesday and visit North Crowley at 6 p.m. Friday.

Youth football

At the 57th annual Pop Warner Super Bowl at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Disney World in Lake Buena Vista, Fla., the Arlington Thunder lost 32-6 to the Virginia Beach Mustangs on Dec. 8 in the first round of Division I Pee Wee play.
