Texas Rangers catcher Geovany Soto kicked off the ballclub’s summer reading program Tuesday at the Arlington Central Library.
Students in kindergarten through 12th grade are eligible to participate. Information and reading logs are available at participating libraries. Students record the number of minutes they read Monday through Friday for four weeks to become an official summer Reading Club All-Star.
All participants get a club bookmark and are eligible for discount tickets to the Rangers’ game against the Los Angeles Angels on Aug. 17.
The discount ticket is $2 per student. Relatives and friends may buy additional discount tickets by mail by Aug. 15.
The participating libraries are Arlington, Azle, Bedford, Burleson, Cleburne, Crowley, Euless, Fort Worth, Grapevine, Grand Prairie, Hurst, Mansfield, Southlake and Watauga.
