Arlington man in serious condition after apartment fire

The fire victim, whose name was unavailable, was taken to Arlington Memorial Hospital, but later transferred to Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas, a fire department spokesman said.

An Arlington man was in serious condition early Sunday after he was rescued from a fire at an apartment complex northeast of AT&T Stadium, a fire department spokesman said.

The fire was reported at about 5 a.m. in a ground-floor apartment in the 1200 block of Enclave Circle.

Fire crews found the victim in the bathtub and removed him, said Lt. Lee Tovar, fire department spokesman.

The fire started in the living room of the one-bedroom apartment, where it was contained, Tovar added.

The blaze appeared to be small, but it caused a lot of smoke, Tovar said.

The man, whose name was unavailable, was taken to Arlington Memorial Hospital, but later transferred to Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas “for further care,” Tovar said.

“I cannot confirm (the) patient’s condition at this time, but he was alive in serious condition earlier,” Tovar said at about 4:15 p.m. Sunday. “The cause is currently under investigation.”
