Opening statements have begun in the murder trial of a Houston woman accused of fatally stabbing her boyfriend with her stiletto heel.
Statements were being heard Monday by jurors in a Houston courtroom in the case of Ana Trujillo.
Prosecutors say Trujillo stabbed Alf Stefan Andersson, 59, after the two got into an argument at his condominium in June.
Prosecutors say Andersson, a professor and researcher at the University of Houston, became angry when a man tried to buy Trujillo a drink at a nightclub the couple visited earlier.
Trujillo’s attorney, John Carroll, has said his client has “a very valid self-defense claim.”
Trujillo, 45, is free on $100,000 bail.
