A motorist driving the wrong way on Interstate 635 in Grapevine was killed Sunday morning when his vehicle collided head-on with a tractor-trailer cab, Grapevine police said.
The Tarrant Couty medical examiner’s office identified the victim as Jorge Rico, 22, of North Richland Hills, but Grapevine police listed his hometown as Dallas. He died of blunt force trauma and the death was ruled an accident, according to the medical examiner’s office.
The accident was reported shortly after 4 a.m. Sunday.
Rico was driving a Honda west in the eastbound lanes, Grapevine police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
No other injuries were reported.
Authorities closed a highway exit ramp for several hours as they investigated.
Grapevine police did not release further information, but authorities said alcohol may have been a factor in the wreck.
