Filing begins for local school board, city council elections

Candidates began filing Wednesday for the May 10 elections for area school boards and city council seats.
Neither the Fort Worth City Council nor the school board has seats open for this election.
Filing ends Feb. 28.
Arlington City Council
District 2 Councilwoman Sheri Capehart filed for her sixth consecutive term.
Keller school board
DeAnna Smith, a 49-year-old homemaker, was the first to file for Place 5. The seat has been vacant since Lara Lee Hogg stepped down in July when she moved out of the district.
Keller City Council
Mayor Pat McGrail, Place 5 Councilman John Hoffman and Place 6 Councilman Doug Miller filed for re-election.
Southlake City Council
Place 6 is open because Councilwoman Pamela Muller has reached her term limit. Gary Fawks, a former mayor pro tem, and resident Virginia Muzyka filed to run for the seat Wednesday.
Councilman Martin Schelling filed for re-election to Place 1.
Colleyville City Council
Place 3 Councilman Stan Hall and Place 4 incumbent Jody Short filed for re-election.
Carroll school board
Place 1 Councilman Craig Rothmeier filed for re-election. Bradley Taylor, a commercial insurance provider, filed to run in Place 2. Sheri Mills, a director at the Neuroscience Education Institute, filed for Place 3.
