State Rep. Rob Orr, R-Burleson, a broker/owner with Orr & Associates Real Estate, has been honored with the 2013 A.L. Purvis Distinguished Service Award from the Greater Fort Worth Association of Realtors, its highest honor.

In addition, Johnny Bennett received the 2013 Realtor of the Year Award, Andra Beatty received the 2013 Marie & Dayton Sheridan Realtor Spirit Award, and Bonny Hines received the 2013 Affiliate of the Year Award.

The awards were presented Wednesday.

The Purvis Award is given to a Realtor for prolonged and distinguished service to the Realtor organization and for community activities, participation and involvement, the organization said.

Orr is serving his fifth, and final, term in the Texas House. He was named the 2013 Legislator of the Year by both the Greater Fort Worth Association of Builders and the Texas Independent Automotive Dealers Association. He has served on the board of directors for both the National Association of Realtors and the Texas Association of Realtors, and served as the 1997 president of the Greater Fort Worth association. In 1998, the association presented him with the Realtor of the Year Award.

The Realtor of the Year Award is based on outstanding service to the association, and the member’s level of involvement with civic organizations, the Texas Association of Realtors and the National Association of Realtors. Bennett, the recipient, has been a Realtor since 1967 and is broker/owner of JJ Bennett & Associates Realty.

The Marie & Dayton Sheridan Realtor Spirit Award recognizes a member who displays cheerfulness, cooperation, business ethics, community involvement and support of local activities. Beatty, broker/owner of Andra Beatty Real Estate, began her real estate career in 2004.

The association’s Affiliate of the Year Award is based on a member’s contributions and service to the organization, including committee involvement, support of the association’s goals and ideals, and participation in activities. Hines, manager and escrow officer of Trinity Title Co., has been involved in the real estate industry for more than 40 years.
