Fort Worth’s newest business incubator opened Wednesday, with a new lead tenant and “entrepreneur-in-residence.”
Technology Team LLC, which helps corporations move IT equipment, has leased about 900 square feet at the Idea Works FW incubator in the Guinn complex at Interstate 35W and Rosedale Street, near the Business Assistance Center and Tech Fort Worth. Technology Team moved from the nearby Tech Fort Worth building.
The new center, whose aim is to help fledgling businesses, is a public-private partnership of the city of Fort Worth and the Business Assistance Center Education Foundation.
In its role as entrepreneur-in-residence at the center, Technology Team will represent Idea Works FW at community events, will coach and mentor each client/tenant, and will assist in tours and promoting the facility, among other things.
“Because of Technology Team’s unwavering commitment to giving within the entrepreneurship community, we could not think of a more perfect partner to collaborate with and help grow these ambitious companies who are about to embark on their expanding futures,” said Lucas Sawyer, chairman of the BAC Education Foundation.
Founded in 2003 by Sherry Green and Allen Spinner, Technology Team provides services to protect assets, control risks and minimize downtime in handling the logistics of crucial IT moves. It has moved $750 million of technology equipment for types of businesses.
“We have a passion for small business and are excited to share it,” said Green, the company president. “Our hope is to make a difference with emerging businesses in Fort Worth.”
Fort Worth is going to have a Food + Wine Festival in March, and Stacey Pierce has been named the festival producer.
Pierce is executive director of Fort Worth’s Streams & Valleys group and owns Pierce Communications for special projects.
For six years, Pierce was marketing and communications director for Downtown Fort Worth Inc. and was development director at the Fort Worth Zoo, marketing manager at the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra and director of marketing and admission at All Saints’ Episcopal School.
“A tremendous group of partners has laid a great foundation for our inaugural festival,” said Mike Micallef, co-founder of the Fort Worth Food + Wine Festival and owner of Reata Restaurant Group. “We are pleased to welcome Stacey to our top-notch team of restaurateurs, chefs, business owners, community partners and sponsors. She has strong relationships and a long history of community involvement and we know she’ll help us create the recipe for success during this critical first year.”

Toast Cafe, a North Carolina-based gourmet breakfast restaurant, is looking to land in Dallas-Fort Worth.
The company began franchising its concept in June 2013. It plans 25 franchise signings this year with 10 openings. Their expansion plans include Dallas-Fort Worth and Roanoke, the company said.
“Our current projections will help us grow into attractive markets in 2014 and allow us to focus on building the Toast brand to become a national success,” co-founder Robert Maynard said in a statement.
Toast Cafe was founded in 2005 in Huntersville, N.C., in a small house turned restaurant by Maynard and his friend Brian Burchill.
