The worlds of politics and airlines collided on Monday night at a Dallas Press Club dinner.
Veteran newsman Bob Schieffer, the honoree at the dinner, was asked about Texas Sen. Ted Cruz’ bid for the Republican presidential nomination and how Cruz is not well-liked by his Republican colleagues in the U.S. Senate.
Schieffer, who is known for his plain spoken assessment of politics, said someone was “more likely to ask for the recipe to airline food” than for Senate majority leader Mitch McConnell to support Cruz’s presidential bid.
American Airlines happened to be one of the sponsors of the dinner so I decided to ask the Fort Worth-based carrier’s communications team that attended if anyone had ever asked for their airline food recipes.
“People have asked for the recipe and our food is quite good,” said American spokesman Casey Norton with a smile.
