Athlos Academy, which is building a charter school on south Bowen Road in Arlington, is planning a location in north Fort Worth.
The school, which offers kindergarten through eighth grade, will be called International Leadership of Texas, Powered by Athlos. A school is also being developed in Garland. The schools can hold 1,300 students.
Hawkins Cos., a commercial real estate developer based in Boise, Idaho, has bought 13.3 acres on the northwest corner of Heritage Trace and Tehama Ridge parkways for the school, deed records show.
John Stellmon, a former president of Athlos Academy who now works with the firm as a consultant, said the school is still seeking financing but hopes to be under construction soon to open in the fall. If it doesn’t make it this year, the school will open in the fall of 2015, he said.
“We’ve had good demand throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth area,” Stellmon said. “We’ve had a lot of interest in Fort Worth. Arlington was our first in the area.”
Stellmon said the charter school developer “had several options in Fort Worth” but liked the visibility and population in the area to support the school.
Fort Worth group buys Dallas buildings
Fort Worth-based Panther FW Investments has bought a five-building industrial portfolio in the Valwood and East Brookhollow submarkets in Dallas.
Panther partnered with Atlas CP, whose principals are P.J. Brady and Brad Hannagan. This is the second time the two have acquired property together. The first was the purchase of an industrial portfolio of 10 buildings in San Antonio in 2012.
The Dallas portfolio consists of five office/warehouse facilities totaling 303,420 square feet.
Panther FW Investments is a private real estate investment firm founded by Douglas Kincaid, Tommy Pigg and Ben Loughry.
The law office of Lauren Gaydos Duffer has leased 4,679 square feet of office space in Skymark Tower. Kurt Cherry and Brittany Ricketts of PM Realty Group represented the landlord, CSFB Skymark Tower 2007-C2 LLC. The building is now 84 percent leased.
Lone Star Mobile Pet Vet has leased 2,450 square feet for a veterinary clinic. Scott Jackson of Hudson Peters Commercial represented the tenant. Bobby Montgomery of NAI Robert Lynn represented the landlord.
Beacon Sales Acquisition has leased 20,000 square feet of industrial space. Mark Graybill and Scott Giordano of Lee & Associates represented the tenant. Michael Newsome of NAI Robert Lynn represented the landlord, E&L Holdings.
Bomac Davis Investments in Southlake has bought 1.7 acres from Patterson Land Development. Ryan and Kevin McIntosh of Trinity Partners represented the buyer. Lester Day and Ben McBroom of Transwestern represented the seller.
