Firefighters and police worked together to rescue a woman who threatened to jump onto West Loop 820 from an overhead sign during Friday’s afternoon rush hour.
The woman climbed over a bridge railing and then on top of a sign above northbound West Loop 820 at the White Settlement Road bridge, said Lt. Gregg Russell, a Fort Worth fire department spokesman.
Firefighters and police arrived on the scene shortly after 5 p.m. Traffic on the loop was blocked, Russell said.
Firefighters parked a fire engine underneath the woman, raised a ladder and climbed up, Russell said. A police officer was able to lean out and reach her from the bridge, and the officer grabbed her and held her steady until firefighters eased her down the ladder, Russell said.

She resisted the efforts to rescue her, Russell said.
Emergency personnel took the woman to a hospital for evaluation, according to authorities.
The woman and responders were uninjured.
The freeway reopened about 5:30 p.m., Russell said.
