A toddler was in critical condition Thursday evening after he was pulled unconscious from an apartment complex swimming pool, authorities said.

The 1-year-old boy, who was not identified, was taken to Cook Children’s Medical Center in Fort Worth.

Firefighters and paramedics were called about 7 p.m. to the Emerald Hills Apartments in the 8900 block of North Normandale Street.

Authorities had not determined how long the boy was in the water. Rescuers administered cardiopulmonary resuscitation before emergency crews arrived.

Also Thursday, a 21-year-old man who had been on a crowded party boat disappeared after he went swimming near Mustang Island at Lake Grapevine, police said.

The boat contained about 60 people, police Sgt. Robert Eberling said.

Firefighters were on the scene Thursday evening using sonar equipment to look for the man, who was not identified.

Authorities were alerted about 5 p.m. after the boat docked at Silver Lake Marina and those aboard reported that someone was missing.

Witnesses told authorities that they had seen the man swimming near the island but that no one saw him at the marina.
