The death of a baby early Thursday at a Fort Worth hospital is under investigation by deputies with the Parker County sheriff's office, authorities said.

The infant was identified as Laughton Champion, 3 months old, who died at 1:23 a.m. Thursday in the pediatric intensive care unit at Cook Children's Medical Center.

Investigators are awaiting autopsy reports conducted by the Tarrant County medical examiner's office. A ruling on Laughton's death is pending.

The baby had been living in the 2000 block of Hilltop Circle in Parker County.

Parker County authorities declined to comment on any details because deputies had just started the investigation.

"The matter is under investigation," said Parker County Sheriff Larry Fowler.
