Showers, storms likely for Dallas-Fort Worth for a couple of days

Forecasters are saying that there are good chances of rain Wednesday and Thursday with accumulations in Tarrant County ranging from an inch to two inches.

If showers and thunderstorms are your favorite weather conditions, North Texas will be the place to be for the next couple of days.

Forecasters are saying that there are very good chances of rain Wednesday and Thursday with accumulations in Tarrant County ranging from an inch to 2 inches.

Three factors are combining for the probability of showers on Wednesday, said Jennifer Dunn, meteorologist for the National Weather Service in Fort Worth.

One, a northern cold front that poured into Texas on Tuesday applied chilly temperatures at the surface, she explained. Meanwhile, southerly upper-level winds were expected to pull warm moist air on top of the chilly air at the surface. Next, an upper-level trough should slide in from the west.

The result will be an 80-percent chance of showers on Wednesday, with high temperatures in the low to mid 50s, Dunn said.

Tuesday offered a slight preview. A trace of rain was recorded for the day at DFW Airport, but much more was expected after midnight, forecasters said.

The high temperature Tuesday reached 69 degrees at 12:49 a.m. Temperatures cooled throughout the day, hovering in the low 60s.

The low Wednesday morning could be 50 degrees and the high will be just a few degrees more than that.

Slight rain chances continue on Thursday, but the sun could break through by Thursday afternoon. High temperatures will be around the 60s.

Warmer temperatures return Friday and for the weekend.

"The weekend looks nice, dry of course," said Jesse Moore, also a weather service meteorologist in Fort Worth.

High temperatures for the weekend will be in the 70s.

The next chance of rain will be Monday, but as of Tuesday, the forecast called for only a 20-percent chance of precipitation.
