About the Mavs: This is the finale of a three-game road trip for the Mavs. They lost at Golden State (108-85) Tuesday and won at Utah (108-101) Wednesday. ... After Sunday’s contest, the Mavs begin an eight-game homestand Monday against Boston. It will be the longest homestand in team history. The Mavs have lost four of their last seven games, including three of their last four road games. Overall, the Mavs have posted an 18-17 record on the road. ... Dirk Nowitzki is coming off his best shooting night of the season. During Wednesday’s win over the Jazz, Nowitzki was an efficient 12 of 14 from the field and poured in 31 points. It’s the seventh time this season he’s scored at least 30 points in a game. . .The only time the Mavs played the Thunder this season was Nov. 6 in OKC. The Thunder won 107-93. Monta Ellis led the Mavs with 20 points in that game, but also committed seven turnovers. The Mavs will see the Thunder one more time after Sunday — in Dallas on March 25 — but the teams also have a chance to meet in the first round of the playoffs.
About the Thunder: The wheels came off the Thunder wagon recently when they dropped consecutive games at Phoenix (128-122) and at the Lakers (114-110). But OKC went home and defeated Houston106-98 Tuesday before blasting the Lakers 131-102 Thursday. ... Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook are arguably the No. 1 duo in the NBA. Durant leads the league in scoring with 31.8 points, and also averages 7.6 rebounds and 5.6 assists while shooting 50.8 percent from the field. Westbrook averages 21.5 points, 5.7 rebounds, 7.1 assists and 2.0 steal ... Serge Ibaka poses a major threat with averages of 15.2 points and 8.9 rebounds and is second in the NBA in blocks (2.64 blocks) and 10th in field goal accuracy at 54.6 percent ... OKC recently picked up former Mavs forward Caron Butler, who is averaging 8.4 points in five games. . .The Thunder is just one game behind the Spurs for the best record in the NBA.
