The Jazz are last in the West and own the fifth-worst record in the NBA. … Utah has lost five of its past seven games, including its past three to Golden State (95-90), the LA Clippers (102-87) and Toronto (94-79). … Monday’s game against the Raptors was the last time the Jazz played, so they’ve had time to prepare for Dallas. … The Jazz are 6-18 on the road and 9-23 against the West. Utah is 27th in the league in scoring (94.4 ppg), 27th in assists (19.9 apg) and 24th in rebounding (41.6 rpg). … When the Jazz lost to the Mavericks in Dallas 103-93 on Nov. 22, their bench outscored the Mavs’ bench 56-26. Marvin Williams was the bench leader in that game for Utah with 19 points and Jeremy Evans added 14 points.
About the Mavericks: Fresh off Wednesday’s 110-96 win in Memphis, the Mavs hope to stay alert Friday in what amounts to a trap game. … After Friday, the Mavs open a three-game road trip Sunday in Boston, and the trip also includes games against Charlotte and Indiana. … The Mavs have won four of their past five games, including three in a row. The Mavs’ only four-game win streak this season was Nov. 16-22 against Orlando, Philadelphia, Houston and Utah. … Center Samuel Dalembert had his second double-double of the season with 14 points and 10 rebounds Wednesday against the Grizzlies.
