Forget border worries
Why is everyone in Texas in such an uproar over President Obama’s immigration policy?
Lt. Gov.-elect Dan Patrick is going to singlehandedly close the border with Mexico.
I heard him say so in every TV commercial.
Never miss a local story.
Our troubles are over.

A second chance
I would like to comment about the statement Gil LeBreton made about Josh Brent.
Brent made a huge mistake and admits it.
He deserves a chance to work, and football is his work.
If his friend’s mother is OK with Brent playing football. It’s none of the writer’s business.
I am an 81-year-old white man, and I say give Brent a chance.

In need of a comb
I invited my 10-year-old grandson to eat with me in the retirement-home dining room.
His hair needed some work, so I gave him a comb, but five minutes after he worked on it, it still looked hopeless.
I asked him if he combed it only on the weekends.
With a straight face he responded, “No, just for weddings.”

For those of you who think government is evil and unnecessary, how will you control the rich and powerful when they do away with all public amenities in order to fill their pockets with more gold?
What if banks decided that they will take 30 percent of your money as a “fee” and a law were passed to prevent you from withdrawing?
One drilling company takes 27 percent of royalties for “transportation” and other fees.
Cable companies suddenly raise rates. So do utility companies. What about gasoline?
Someone needs to control this greed.
The Democrats are our only hope. The foxes are in the henhouse.
