The daily STEW (Star-Telegram Editorial Writers): Radio Shack has announced that more than 3,000 of its 4,200 stores will be open on Thanksgiving from 8 a.m. to midnight. Will you be taking advantage of the holiday hours? Is it a good strategy for retailers to be open on the holidays?
This is grossly unfair to both Radio Shack’s employees and their families. No, I will not be shopping on Thanksgiving Day, there or anywhere else. Diane Gatzke
Nope! Shopping can wait until after I spend time with my family. Penny Bonkowski
Depending on the family, a little can go a long way. Why not spend a little of our time shopping instead of watching football? Also, not everyone has family in the area and would like a distraction — shopping or working. Christina McClure
No I will not support any retailer who is open before 6 p.m. on Thanksgiving — and 6pm is pushing it. If we keep giving up our days that are so few that are supposed to be about reflection and family to make a buck then at some point what is the point of having any federal Holidays? Charles Cromer
What kind of idiot would shop at 8 a.m. on Thanksgiving? I’ve always held a grudge against Radio Shack for the whole subway thing. Grocery stores I could maybe see. The leadership at radio shack is delusional, selfish and extremely short-sighted. Brent Light
Don’t worry, they won’t be around to have it again next yea! Ramiro Lopez
Radio Shack still exists? Huh. James Bowden
I never shop on Thanksgiving — but I also never shop on the day after, either. I value my sanity and the health of my toes — being trampled is not a good beginning to the holiday season. Maggie Dwyer
No! Am spending Thanksgiving Day with family & friends. Will not, would not and won’t be shopping. Dale Tilton
