The daily STEW (Star-Telegram Editorial Writers): A federal judge has declared Texas’ ban on same-sex marriage unconstitutional, but stayed the order until an appeals court rules on it. Should this decision be upheld or should judges listen to the will of the people?
Will of the people? What people? Do we really know what the “will of the people” is? Who says it is or isn’t the will of the people to allow or ban same-sex marriage? Ted Cruz supporters? Wendy Davis supporters? Religion supporters? NRA supporters? Loud mouths? Just sayin’. What the “will of the people” is depends on what people you’re talking to. Christina McClure

Article VI of the Constitution (the Supremacy Clause ) clearly states that whenever in conflict Federal laws and institutions take precedent over states. Article III — states do not have authority to nullify federal law. The 10th Amendment is not applicable in this case. Michael Hathoot
