A car trying to pass a tanker truck collided with another vehicle Wednesday morning in Cleburne and killed two motorists, police said.
A 27-year-old Granbury man died at the scene, and the other motorist, a 59-year-old Alvarado woman, was pronounced dead at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth.
The wreck was reported at 5:15 a.m. in the 5500 block of Farm Road 4 in Cleburne.
A 2014 Ford Focus was westbound when the driver tried to pass the tanker truck, Cleburne police said. The Focus collided head-on with an eastbound 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe.

The driver of the Hyundai died at the scene, Cleburne police said. He was identified as Juan Juarez, 27, of Granbury, according to the Tarrant County medical examiner’s website.
The woman driving the Focus died at the hospital, police said. She was identified as Kathy Heingin, 59, of Alvarado, according to the medical examiner’s website.
No other injuries were reported.
Authorities continued to investigate Wednesday.
