A pre-trial hearing for a co-owner of Johnson Family Mortuary, which was shut down after authorities removed seven decomposing bodies June 15, has been reset for Jan. 5.
Rachel Hardy-Johnson was in court on Monday asking for a postponement. Her husband, Dondre Johnson, also a co-owner of the Fort Worth funeral home formerly located at 1051 S. Handley Drive, accompanied her.
Johnson, 40, and Hardy-Johnson, 35, each face seven charges of abuse of a corpse. Johnson has been granted a postponement until Jan. 8 for his preliminary hearing.
Relatives of one of the deceased have sued the couple. In an unrelated matter, Hardy-Johnson has been indicted on federal charges of food stamp fraud, theft of public money and theft of educational funds.
