Head west for country music
Here’s a road trip to pencil into your Texas travel planner: this month’s Outlaws and Legends country music festival in Abilene. Headliners of the three-day music party will include singer-songwriters Robert Earl Keen and Leon Russell. Other musicians include Tommy Alverson, Ray Wylie Hubbard and Jason Boland. The ‘coolest’ small town
Berlin, Md., has been named “America’s Coolest Small Town” in a nationwide contest. Budget Travel magazine gave the small Maryland town top honors recently, citing that Berlin is good for beach lovers, hikers, bird watchers and history lovers alike. It was also the backdrop for the films Tuck Everlasting and The Runaway Bride. Berlin beat out 14 other small towns in online voting since January; nearly 138,000 votes were cast. (Berlin received more than 28 percent of the total with 39,000 votes.) The top five small towns were:
