Commercial construction contracts in October on projects including offices, shops, hotels and warehouses totaled $249.7 million in North Texas, a 23 percent increase from the same month in 2012, according to McGraw Hill Construction.
Residential building contracts for October totaled $713.6 million, up 3 percent from October 2012.
For the first 10 months of the year, nonresidential contracts totaled $4.6 billion, a 36 percent gain from $3.3 billion in the same period of 2012. Residential contracts through October totaled $7.1 billion, up 22 percent from 2012, McGraw Hill said.
In Texas, nonresidential contracts totaled $1.6 billion in October, compared with $1.3 billion in the same month a year ago, a 21 percent climb. Residential building remained flat at $2.1 billion.
For the year through October, nonresidential contracts totaled $14.1 billion, a 19 percent jump from the first 10 months of 2012. Residential building totaled $22.7 billion for the first 10 months, up 16 percent.
SpawGlass moves to near south side
SpawGlass contractors, based near San Antonio, has moved to a larger Fort Worth location.
The company, now in its 60th year, moved to a 3,600-square-foot office at 1000 W. Magnolia Ave. It had been downtown at 777 Main St. since it opened here three years ago.
The Fort Worth office recently completed an $8 million, 750-space parking garage at the University of Texas at Dallas and the $18 million phase two of the UT Health Northeast Academic Center. It has been awarded the contract to build the Vantage at CityView, a four-story assisted-living and memory-care facility to be completed late next year.
