The AT&T Pathways Summer STEM Camp at the University of Texas at Arlington is organized to provide activities, experiments, projects and field experiences for students entering ninth grade in the fall. The camp promotes science, technology, engineering, mathematics and success skills, and supports historically underserved and underrepresented students with limited opportunities.

Southern Champion Tray educates students about paper recycling

In honor of Earth Day on April 22 and Arbor Day on April 27, Southern Champion Tray donated native tree saplings to students at J.L. Boren Elementary School in Mansfield as part of the Paperboard Packaging Council’s Trees into Cartons, Cartons into Trees, an educational program that highlights the renewability and sustainability of paper and paperboard packaging.

Victoria Vela of Mansfield, a marketing major at the Sam M. Walton College of Business at the University of Arkansas, was recognized for academic achievement at the college’s 2013 awards banquet. Vela was presented with the Outstanding Student in Marketing Award. Vela graduated in 2009 from Mansfield High School. The Walton College held its 20th annual awards banquet April 18 at the Fayetteville Town Center.

Rylea Elizabeth Fields, 9, of Mansfield, has been crowned Miss Lone Star Preteen Sweetheart through the America’s National Teenager Scholarship Organization Program. She will represent Texas at nationals July 22-28 in San Antonio. America’s National Teenager Scholarship Organization is a program for gifted young women ages 9-25.
