Northeastern University is pleased to recognize those students who distinguish themselves academically during the course of the school year. Mansfield resident Laura L. Baker, a Northeastern University student majoring in Health Science, was recently named to the university's dean's list for the spring semester, which ended in May 2014.

Community Hospice of Texas, a non-profit, is currently seeking compassionate individuals to support patients and their families who are facing end-of-life challenges. Volunteers are needed who can sit with patients, 3 to 4 hours, one day per week to give family caregivers a much needed break and an opportunity to run errands or make phone calls to check on families.

She earns a gift certificate from Joe’s Family Restaurant, and her photo will be on display in downtown Mansfield during the Hot Beats & Cold Brews Concert Series in October.

Historical museum looks for information on local veterans

Mansfield Historical Society will be updating their military DVDs this summer. They have a extensive list of enlisted men who fought in the Civil War and World War I. They are asking for help with names of men and women who enlisted in World War II, Korean War, Vietnam War, Gulf War, Desert Storm and War on Terrorism in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Hanna Makenzie Rice, a Mansfield native, graduated with a Bachelor of Science in criminal justice and Charles Edward Roe, a Mansfield native, graduated with a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership from Dallas Baptist University during spring commencement. Hanna and Charles were among the 620 graduates receiving associate, bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees from DBU.
