Museum seeks information on military

Mansfield Historical Society will be updating their military DVDs this summer. They have a extensive list of enlisted men who fought in the Civil War and World War I, but need help with names of men and women who enlisted in the military, active and retired.

College Honors

East Texas Baptist University has recognized its students for outstanding academic achievement during the 2014 Spring Semester with the release of the Spring Dean’s List with honors. The Dean’s List with honors are students who have a 3.5 grade point average or above.

Piano students perform spring recital

Piano students of Harriet A. Motter and their families and friends presented a spring awards recital. The program featured selections from classic piano literature composers and contemporary composers Timothy Brown and Lynn F. Olson. After the recital, awards for the year were presented. An International piano guild certificate and pin was received by Emma Tung (15 pieces) and Kyra Ullman (20 pieces). Her program included Sonata K545 by Mozart, as well as her own prize winning original composition, “Summer Dreams”– the fifth-grade second-place winner in the Texas Music Teachers State original composition competition and state and regional winner for the National Federation of Music Clubs.

New Boy Scout troop forming

We are pleased to announce the formation of a new Boy Scout Troop in Mansfield. Troop 2014 is chartered by East Broad Outreach Community, 4517 E. Broad St. just east of Texas 360 and Vernon Newsom Stadium. Meetings are every Monday night except holidays from 7-8:30 p.m. Troop 2014 is dedicated to community service, skills training, leadership training and duty to God and country.
