Former Southlake councilwoman wins seat

SOUTHLAKE ˇX Former City Councilwoman Pamela Muller won the Place 6 City Council seat Saturday in a runoff election against real estate agent Suzanne Maisto.

Muller took about 58 percent of the vote to Maistoˇ¦s 42 percent, according to unofficial results. The two women faced off Saturday after the other Place 6 candidate, accountant and businessman Ralph Williams, was eliminated from the race during the May election. Muller received the most votes but not the more than 50 percent to ensure victory.

Muller said Saturday that she already has several issues she plans to tackle, including a commitment to low-density housing. She said she wants to ensure that Southlake meets its expected population in the low 30,000s when no more residential land is left to develop.

ˇ§My biggest focus will be what is best for Southlake,ˇ¨ she said.

Maisto said looks forward to serving on boards and will stay involved in the community. ˇ§I wish her the best,ˇ¨ Maisto said of Muller. ˇ§I hope she gives the same due diligence to the job that I would.ˇ¨

Saturdayˇ¦s victory will mark the third time Muller has served on the council. She served on the council from 1988 to 1990 and from 1995 to 1998, as well as on other city boards. She will replace Councilwoman Carolyn Morris, who could not run for re-election because of term limits.
