AUSTIN — Former state Rep. Bill Zedler said Monday that he might consider running to reclaim the District 96 legislative seat that he lost to Democrat Chris Turner in 2008.

"There is always a possibility of that," said the Arlington Republican, adding that he would likely make a decision in September.

Turner offered a subdued response, saying he is focused on the current legislative session, which is two weeks away from the June 1 adjournment. "The next campaign is a long way off," he said.

Zedler was in Austin to help Shanda Perkins of Burleson in her efforts to persuade senators to reverse their decision last week blocking her nomination to the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles.

Since losing his legislative seat, Zedler has been active in the Tarrant County Republican Party and frequently attends GOP club meetings.
