NEW ORLEANS — Tropical Storm Ida is prompting some flight cancellations at Louisiana's largest commercial airport.

An American Airlines spokeswoman says the carrier and regional American Eagle have canceled late Monday flights from Dallas, Miami, Chicago and St. Louis into Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport due to expected stormy conditions.

Spokeswoman Andrea Huguely says the carriers did not want aircraft sitting around overnight when conditions along the Gulf Coast could deteriorate because of Ida.

As of Monday afternoon, she says more than three dozen flights were expected to be canceled late Monday and early Tuesday in Gulf Coast communities the airlines serve.
