FORT WORTH -- A 46-year-old grandmother and her 3-year-old grandson were killed Friday afternoon in a one-alarm fire at their residence on Truman Drive near East Loop 820, officials said.

Emergency crews had performed CPR on them at the scene before the two were transported to area hospitals, officials said. The home is in the 6000 block of Truman Drive.

The grandmother, Reshea Anderson, was taken to Texas Health Resources Fort Worth hospital and her grandson, Maurice Anderson, was taken to Cook Children's Medical Center in Fort Worth, Worley said.

The fire had been burning in the living room of the home for a while and had almost extinguished itself when firefighters arrived.

The woman and child were found on the floor in front of the refrigerator in the kitchen, said Lt. Kent Worley, fire department spokesman.

Worley said the cause of the fire is undetermined and that investigators believe the woman might have tried to extinguish the fire with water in pots from the kitchen sink.

Worley said the home had no working smoke detector and that investigators are trying to determine the cause of the fire.
