A man wearing a Halloween mask and showing a gun robbed a Family Dollar store late Tuesday in east Fort Worth, police said.

The crime happened about 9:10 p.m. at the store, 5400 block of East Lancaster Avenue, according to a police report.

A store employee said she was getting ready to put money from the cash register into a safe when a man entered the store wearing the mask, a black hooded jacket and blue jeans, the report said.

The man handed the woman a note that read, "give me the money."

He then "partially pulled his hand out of his jacket pocket, showing (the woman) a gun," the report said.

She handed him cash and he left, the report said. Two other employees were in a stockroom and did not witness the robbery, police said.

The crime, however, was recorded on surveillance video, police said.

Earlier on Tuesday, employees of another Family Dollar store, this one in the 4100 block of East Lancaster, noticed a man "walk in and out of the business several times," police said.

"Employees believed he may have been a potential robber," police said. There was no report of a robbery there, however.

The two stores are about a mile and a half apart.

No arrests were reported Wednesday morning.
