Fall colors are often red, yellow and orange, but think pink at Red Shed Cottage Antiques in Grapevine. From 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. today, the store is hosting its annual "Blanc & Noir with a Touch of Pink" sale. The pink is for Breast Cancer Awareness month, and proceeds from this sale and donations will benefit the Susan G. Komen 3-Day walk. The Red Shed offers French antiques, vintage decor, vintage Christmas items, chandeliers, art and jewelry. Red Shed Tours will also be taking deposits for those who want to join its annual group antique-buying trip to the Paris flea markets, which will depart in April. Halloween does not have to be an evening-only activity. Beginning this morning, Marshall Grain is offering free candy for kids under 12. And those who really get into the spirit and dress their pet in a Halloween costume will receive a free bag of fruitables and wholesome pumpkin and "booberry"-flavor treats. For those who have wondered how to survive in the wild, the Fort Worth Nature Center & Refuge offers some distinctive and possibly even practical advice. Today from 1 to 3 p.m. there is a seminar, Edible and Medicinal Plants, at which you can learn about plants you can eat in the wild, as well as plants that can cure what ails you.
