SILVER AND BOLD. September 2009. This shoot was exciting because AT&T Stadium (then, just “Cowboys Stadium”) was newly completed, and we’d been given the run of the place. Construction crews were still adding finishing touches, and at that point, in August, a football game had yet to be played on the turf. We were greeted at a side entrance, given golf carts to get around, and basically left alone to wander through this vast, record-breaking super structure. It was an incredible feeling — I can’t even describe the scale of the place, especially when it’s just your little team wandering around like ants in a garage. We shot in the locker room, where I got to put a purse in Tony Romo’s locker (shhh!), and in the not-yet-open champagne bar. We visited the skyboxes and the area near the field, where we shot model Jamie Spahr standing under a giant, illuminated star affixed to the ceiling in the passageway between the locker room and the field. She’s wearing Roberto Cavalli pants that laced from ankle to waist, and it’s one of my favorite images of all time. — JBD
