Glazed Doughnuts & Cafe gained quick fame for “extreme” doughnuts like maple-bacon, red velvet and “dough-Nutella.”
But new owner Stephanie Nguyen wants more than a hipster doughnut shop.
“I want people to sit down and get comfortable,” she said this week, still planning new lunch and brunch menus.
“People rush in and grab their doughnuts. That’s OK, but I want Glazed to be a gathering place.”
Nguyen has worked at Glazed since her aunt, Samantha Tran, opened the two shops near Interstate 20 in Arlington and Texas 360 in Grand Prairie.
Everybody wants to try a maple-bacon doughnut.
But Glazed will change its daunting menu next month to focus more on breakfast, lunch and brunch, something to go with that strawberry shortcake or banana doughnut.
One of the keepers is a grilled chicken-pesto sandwich on a fresh-baked croissant.
Breakfasts will include build-your-own sandwiches on a choice of breads, rolls or tortillas.
Glazed also serves authentic French macarons and Austin favorite Stumptown Coffee. She’s adding Vietnamese coffee and other coffee drinks.
The Grand Prairie location, 3050 W. Camp Wisdom Road, Suite 180, at Texas 360 behind a bank, 972-602-0062, has longer hours. The Arlington shop is open for breakfast and lunch only; it’s at 4306 Matlock Road, Suite 108, 817-557-2400. glazedcafe.com.
