So the Ashton Hotel restaurant is premiering a new tapas and risottos menu this weekend — beating the yet-to-open Bird Cafe gastropub by a month.
Six10 now is a gastropub. Just without the pub.
Chef Chris Belanger’s new menu includes takeoffs on shepherd’s pie or bangers-and-mash, along with charcuterie with ale mustard and onion marmalade.
The menu also offers pizzettas and risottos, including a seafood risotto with lobster, scallop, shrimp and sea bass.
New entrees include a chili-dusted rib-eye with blue cheese ($34), wild hog pork chops with habanero cream sauce ($26), and a chorizo-goat cheese stuffed chicken breast ($24).
The Six10 “Mayor Betsy’s” salad is still on the menu, but new salads include a kale-beet with goat cheese and walnuts or a spiced duck on arugula.
(I haven’t seen a new lunch or brunch menu yet, but I assume lunch still includes the Six10’s familiar Warren Buffett-approved chicken-fried steak.)
Six10 is also booking Thanksgiving and Christmas reservations. The Thanksgiving dinner includes a choice of turkey, ham or salmon with brioche sage stuffing. Desserts include a white-chocolate pumpkin tart.

If you’re looking for a very traditional take-home dinner, it’s $49.99 for a small family, $99.99 for a crowd (8-10). The HPC is open for lunch and dinner daily at 1200 N. Buckner Blvd. (Loop 12 at Texas 78), 214-324-5000, www.highlandparkcafeteria.com.
Also, Ferre will open for the first time at Thanksgiving lunch.
The menu includes a garlic-honey turkey breast, Peroni-glazed ham, Dover sole or shrimp linguine. Desserts include pumpkin tiramisu; $37.50, noon-9 p.m., 817-332-0033, www.ferrerestaurant.com.
