Back in June, contributor Celestina Blok wrote in the Star-Telegram’s luxury magazine Indulge that Salsa Fuego Cocina Mexicana owner Carlos Rodriguez planned to open a second restaurant, Fuego Burger, by the end of 2014.
If you’ve ever had Salsa Fuego’s Fuego Burger, a stunning green-chile cheeseburger so generous with the melted cheese that it looks like one of Saturn’s rings, you know why the idea of a restaurant called Fuego Burger ... I’m sorry, have to take a break. My mouth is watering.
“To make room for Fuego Burger in his flagship restaurant's current location,” Blok wrote, “Rodriguez is moving Salsa Fuego to a former Chinese buffet restaurant just steps away; it's expected to open there later this month.”
That was 10 months ago — as so often happens in the restaurant industry, target dates are hard to hit. But the new location of Salsa Fuego is finally open, Food, Fort Worth reports.
Never miss a local story.
As Blok reported previously, the new location is in a former Chinese buffet restaurant just steps away from the old Salsa Fuego; the new location is 3500 Alta Mere Drive, just off the Weatherford Traffic Circle in west Fort Worth. The new location will seat about 200, according to Blok’s June report; that’s a lot more than the small old location seated.
Food, Fort Worth reports that Fuego Burger (3520 Alta Mere Blvd.) should open by late spring/early summer. Here’s hoping it makes it in time for the next DFW.com Burger Battle. Rodriguez tells Food, Fort Worth that a new Salsa Fuego menu is coming soon.
